Boulder's Pearl Street Welcomes a New Botanical Skincare Studio

On Pearl Street, where local sourcing is practically a marketing requirement, a new skincare studio is leaning all the way in. Terra & Bloom opened last month with a treatment menu built almost entirely around botanicals grown or wildcrafted within Colorado, including calendula, yarrow, and high-altitude lavender.
Founder Ingrid Solberg spent three years developing supplier relationships with small farms along the Front Range before opening the studio, and says the sourcing story is as much a part of the client experience as the treatments themselves. "People here want to know where things come from," she said. "We give them the farm name, not just the ingredient name."
Sourcing as a Selling Point
Terra & Bloom's facials rotate seasonally based on what's harvested locally, a structure that means the menu changes roughly four times a year. Solberg says the seasonal format has actually simplified operations compared to a static menu, since it narrows inventory to whatever a handful of regional suppliers can provide at a given time.
The studio also runs small workshop sessions teaching clients to make simple botanical skincare preparations at home, a format Solberg borrowed from her background in herbalism before moving into esthetics. Workshops have sold out consistently since the studio's opening, filling a Tuesday evening slot that Solberg initially expected to be a slow night.
Competing With Chain Skincare Options
Boulder's beauty and wellness scene includes several national chain locations, and Solberg says differentiating through sourcing has been a deliberate strategy rather than a purely aesthetic choice. Ingredient costs for hyperlocal botanicals run higher than mass-market suppliers, which shows up in prices roughly 15 to 20 percent above comparable chain facials in the area.
So far, Solberg says client retention has held up despite the premium pricing, with a growing membership program built around quarterly seasonal facials. She's already scouting a second location, though she says she wants at least a year of data on the Pearl Street studio before committing to expansion.
